"...marked a major step in my recovery and was an incredible celebration of how far I have come." - Jessica
"I decided to participate in MDWMN because I genuinely believe in Nikki’s vision. We have come so far in opening up the discussion about mental health, but I can’t really think of a platform that focuses specifically on the stories of womxn in our community. Its no secret how detrimental social media can be to mental health. Womxn of all ages are bombarded with images that push agendas which ultimately leave us feeling as though we are “less than.” The community that Nikki has single-handedly created through MDWMN has connected me to some of the most amazing and inspiring womxn I have ever met. Womxn who have bravely shared their struggles and have found strength through vulnerability. The fact that Nikki shoots exclusively with film and posts photos that are unedited is a breath of fresh air and is a true reflection of the beauty that comes from struggle and adversity. As someone with a history of severe eating disorders, allowing Nikki to shoot me in my bra and underwear marked a major step in my recovery and was an incredible celebration of how far I have come."
Beyond grateful for you and MDWMN Jessica Flaman Toronto, ON
